This early June workshop will take place in a mixed hardwood and Hemlock forest in eastern Kentucky. We’ll be discussing and searching for medicinal mushrooms that are commonly found in these areas. We’ll cover fungal identifications, what benefits these wild mushrooms can bring to your life and how to properly and safely prepare tinctures and decoctions (teas) with them. In addition to medicinal/edible fungi, we'll be on the search for wild greens, edible flowers and needles from both Pine and Hemlock for tea. As we're interacting with each specimen, I'll discuss some traditional uses and techniques you can apply while incorporating them into meals or for preserving. NOTE: This workshop will involve hiking over various terrain and will be around 2-3 miles in total. There will be a waiver to fill out upon purchase of admission tickets that’s required to join us.
