An Introduction to Mushroom Foraging / October 20th, 2024
Join George Barnett this autumn for a walk in the forest, while we discover, properly identify, and discuss foraging for wild edible and medicinal mushrooms. We'll cover the basics to get you started on what could become a lifelong passion and hobby of yours. I'll discuss prime habitats where specific mushrooms occur, why and what mushrooms do ecologically, a thorough discussion on safety cautions as well as practical harvesting/preservation techniques. During this class, we will be in a forested setting walking a distance of approximately 2.0 miles. This class is limited to 25 individuals. * For people who purchase the workshop admission and a copy of my "Foraging Kentucky" book, note that the books will be handed out in-person at the beginning of the workshop event.
